How to Balance and Heal the Solar Plexus Chakra

The Solar Plexus chakra, in Sanskrit Manipura, is the energetic center located above your navel that directly relates to your confidence, courage, and sense of Self power. Noticing insecurities, trouble demonstrating your power in life, or the opposite which is over imposing your power onto others are tell tale signs you must balance this sacred center.  Physically speaking, the energy of the Manipura chakra envelops the tissues nearby therefore affecting the digestive organs and the pancreas. Diabetes, eating disorders, ulcers, general feelings of lethargy, and depression tends to also be an effect of an imbalance in this chakra due to lack of confidence and self esteem. If you find yourself suffering from any of these ailments, please seek the help of a doctor immediately and work with the chakra balancing alongside your doctor’s recommended treatment. A Doctor of Naturopathy can do wonders when it comes to balancing the glandular systems, organ systems, and energetic system in a holistic way so, I recommend researching your area for an N.D. who’s qualified to treat these disorders.

The color that vibrates at the same frequency as the Solar Plexus chakra energy is bright, cheerful, spontaneous, and joyful yellow.

The mantra that corresponds to the Solar Plexus chakra is “RAM.” Chanting this mantra 108 times along with doing the following exercise can bring you into the feelings of self positivity.

Exercise: Visualizing a yellow lotus flower in the location of this chakra (just above the navel), and imagining on every in breath energy coming into your Solar Plexus chakra and cleaning it, then on each out breath chant the mantra RAM as you imagine the toxins of this chakra coming out and the lotus flower becoming brighter and brighter yellow. Do this meditation for several minutes until your Solar Plexus chakra feels light and full of vibrancy.

Essential oils can be an excellent tool in anointing the physical body and simultaneously clearing any blockages in your energy by stimulating feelings relating to the chosen aroma. The olfactory gland is responsible for two things, smell and memory. With this connection, aroma can trigger reactions in the brain and create feelings of bliss, harmony, and serenity. Sold at your local health food store or apothecary, I recommend trying bergamot, lemongrass, fennel, or clary sage.

Exercise: Carry one of these essential oils with you throughout your day and when you feel lack of confidence, or rigid and ego-driven drop 2 drops into your palms and inhale deeply for 5 seconds, then exhale for a count of 5 seconds. Repeat this 7 times or until your nervous system feels calm and secure. You can also purchase an essential oil diffuser and allow the aroma to fill your home or office.

Mastery of the Solar Plexus chakra comes from “spiritualizing the energy center” as Cyndi Dale, author of “The Complete Book of Chakra Healing” has stated. This means that through the tasks of the Solar Plexus chakra such as expressing your power to inspire others, you are able to find a sense of connection to spirit and purpose by doing and learning from these lessons.

For more information about the 7 chakra system most commonly known in the west read my article by clicking here. I also recommend listening to binaural beats as you sleep that help to program your body, mind, and spirit to align and balance your Solar Plexus chakra. Meditative Mind and Nu Meditation Music on YouTube have amazing binaural beat tracks for each chakra or even all 7 that you can play as you sleep at night. Also, with a quick search on YouTube of “guided meditations for the Solar Plexus chakra” you will find loads of empowering meditations you can follow along with as you do this inner work towards balance. Though, I will say the real inner work comes when you begin to use these lessons in your daily interactions. Namaste.
