The Heart Chakra, in Sanskrit Anahata, is the energetic center located in your chest that holds the attributes of unconditional love, empathy, and gratitude. If you feel like you are constantly giving but never receiving, or conversely receiving but not giving, overly guarded, heart-broken, overly attached, inability to forgive, or notice negative feelings towards yourself you are being guided to balance this chakra in order to heal. While the heart chakra revolves around love, this love is not necessarily romantic in nature. Pure love from the Heart Chakra is able to dissolve resentment, heal broken friendships, and drive efforts towards helping humanity. This type of love is blind and learning to live through this chakra center you learn to love even your enemy because they are able to teach you and you can feel compassion towards them. In the physical body, the energy of the Heart Chakra penetrates through the heart, the thymus glad, the lungs, and any other surrounding tissues. High blood pressure, Low blood pressure, Heart disease, Breast Cancer, Asthma, congestion in the lungs, Autoimmune disorders and other relating ailments are caused by an energetic imbalance in the heart chakra that over time results in a manifestation of disease within the physical tissues of the body. If you find yourself suffering from any of these ailments, please seek the help of a doctor immediately and work with the chakra balancing alongside your doctor’s recommended treatment. A Doctor of Naturopathy can do wonders when it comes to balancing the glandular systems, organ systems, and energetic system in a holistic way so, I recommend researching your area for an N.D. who’s qualified to treat these disorders.
The Anahata Chakra vibrates at the same frequency as the color green, as it correlates directly with our beautiful plant kingdom. The plants give us oxygen, as we give them carbon dioxide. This is the perfect example of a balanced act of giving and receiving, and the main lesson of the Heart Chakra.
The mantra that corresponds to the Heart Chakra is “YAM.” Chanting this mantra 108 times along with doing the following exercise will center you back into a space of love and compassion.
Exercise: Visualizing as you breath in and out, a beautiful green lotus flower emerging from the center of your chest. On every in breath you visualize oxygen pouring into your lungs and cleaning out the heart area with new life force. On the out breath chant “YAM” and imagine all that no longer serves you leaving with your breath. As the breath releases, see how the green lotus flower becomes brighter and brighter. Do this 108 times using Mala beads, or until your lotus flower is shining vibrantly and your heart feels light and cleared.
Essential oils can be an excellent tool in anointing the physical body and simultaneously clearing any blockages in your energy by stimulating feelings relating to the chosen aroma. The olfactory gland is responsible for two things, smell and memory. With this connection, aroma can trigger reactions in the brain and create feelings of bliss, harmony, and serenity. Sold at your local health food store or apothecary, I recommend trying Lavender, Rose, Chamomile, Neroli, and Rosemary.
Exercise: Carry one of these essential oils with you throughout your day and when you feel a blockage in your flow of giving and receiving love drop 1 drop into your palms and inhale deeply for 5 seconds, then exhale for a count of 5 seconds. Repeat this 7 times or until your heart feels soft and light. You can also purchase an essential oil diffuser and allow the aroma to fill your home or office.
Between the lower 3 chakras and the Heart Chakra, there is a veil which some people may never cross in their lives. Living from the heart is truly something that advanced souls are able to do, as the less advanced tend to get distracted within the negativity of the Earth plane and are unable to lead with compassion in order to shift the planetary consciousness into a place which is respectful of one another and the planet where we reside. Do the work of the lower 3 chakras, so that you may rise into a place of caring for others without depleting yourself of nourishment. Below are links to my Root, Sacral, and Solar Plexus articles where you can help yourself to expedite your growth and ability to give to others healthfully when you do open and balance the Heart Chakra.
Mastery of the Heart Chakra comes from “spiritualizing the energy center” as Cyndi Dale, author of “The Complete Book of Chakra Healing” has stated. This means that through the tasks of the Heart Chakra such as giving and receiving in balance and mastering unconditional love, you are able to find a sense of connection to spirit and purpose by doing and learning from these lessons.

I also recommend listening to binaural beats as you sleep that help to program your body, mind, and spirit to align and balance your Heart Chakra.
